As Pretendian Country Today readers have noticed, people with shifting tribal affiliation claims tend to go by multiple names.
The names are usually drawn from ancestors or people in a family tree whom the Pretendian believes belong to a particular tribal nation. Case in point: Corinne Perera added “Rice” to her long list of names because of the prominence of the surname among the Mohawk people. It’s a rather roundabout way to assert proximity to a tribal community.
In other cases, the names seem to come out of left field. For Regan Loggans, the subject of Self-described ‘agitator’ changes tribal affiliation story after inquiries on Indianz.Com, the “Regan de Loggans” name was their way of ensuring others knew about their connection to Guatemala, where Spanish is the official language. “De Loggans” basically means “of Loggans” — or more theatrically, someone “belonging” to the Loggans family.
According to long-time friends and long-time associates, Loggans told just about anyone who would listen that using “de” in a name was just something that people did in Guatemala, where their mother was born before immigrating to the U.S.
And with Loggans being born in Germany to a U.S. citizen father (Ronald D. Loggans / Ronald Loggans / Ron Loggans), the use of “de” lends a bit of exoticism to the otherwise staid “Loggans” surname. It also distances Loggans from just being plain old American.
In fact, up until the infamous DNA test reported on Indianz.Com, Loggans had strongly identified as LatinX, according to people who know them for years.
But for the record, their full legal name is Regan Brook Loggans. It’s the name they were assigned at birth, and it’s the name that appears on court records in Minnesota, where they had faced charges in three separate criminal cases.
And in an exclusive for paid subscribers, Pretendian Country Today can reveal yet another name used by Regan de Loggans aka Regan Loggans aka Regan Brook Loggans. This one is also quite curious.
