'Auntie' goes missing?
Cultural Survival erases traces of Miss Corinne Oestreich Rice Grey Cloud Perera
Remember Miss Corinne Oestreich Rice-Grey Cloud Perera?
Many moons ago — January 2022, to be exact — she admitted being “wrong” about her supposed Lakota and Mohawk tribal affiliations and promptly disappeared from @misscorinne86 on TikTok where she had amassed over 100,000 followers. She’s down to 99.5K in case you’re curious about her current clout cachet.
Well the social media platform isn’t the only place where Miss Corinne has gone missing. The Massachusetts-based Cultural Survival, which boasts of having built a “trusted network of Indigenous partners and international human rights advocates across the globe” over the last fifty years, mysteriously took down a piece penned by the cultural shifter after she was exposed on the Indian internet.
Not only was Miss Corinne’s essay taken down from culturalsurvival.org — in English and en Español, claro que si — the non-profit went so far as to DELETE her pages from the copy of Cultural Survival Quarterly posted on issuu. And from an issue titled Indigenous Women: The Strength of Our Communities. Qué frío, trusted network!
